Aurora’s History Facts

Aurora town was founded in the year 1880.

Donald Fletcher was founder of the town. Fletcher in fact was original name of the town before it was eventually renamed as ‘Aurora’.

The town was renamed as ‘Aurora’ only in 1907.

Historical military institutions Army General Hospital and Lowry Air Force Base have been in existence in Aurora town since 20th century. Both have marked huge military presence in Aurora town.

Buckley Air Force Base and Anschutz Medical Campus are largest employers in Aurora town. Both of them employing nearly 18,000 people.

Not many MNC companies have their headquarters and offices in Aurora town.

The famous Fitzsimons Army Medical Center was birthplace of 2004 Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry.
